Listed in every edition of Best Lawyers in America® since 1989-90, Jim began his career at RisCassi & Davis, P.C., when he was a student in Bill Davis's Trial Practice class at The University of Connecticut School of Law. Jim then accepted a position as a law clerk at the firm and then began his practice here in 1975.
Jim subsequently became an adjunct professor of law at UConn, where he taught trial practice for 15 years before turning over his popular class to his RisCassi & Davis, P.C. law partner, John Houlihan.
Building on the skills he first learned from Bill Davis, Jim has successfully tried many complicated medical malpractice and product liability cases as well numerous motor vehicle accident cases and other personal injury claims. He was won multi-million dollar verdicts and has also achieved many such results by mediation and settlement.
Jim Bartolini is board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) and served as its Connecticut president in 2003. Indeed, Jim has led several prominent professional organizations throughout his career. He served as president of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He is a past president of both the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation and the Law School Alumni Association. Jim has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Connecticut Bar Journal, which publishes scholarly articles by Connecticut lawyers. He served as President of the Oliver Ellsworth American Inn of Court in 1992.
Jim has also served on the Board of Directors and as an elected officer for the Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation, an organization devoted to providing legal assistance to the Hartford area’s most needy residents.
Jim has been included in New England Super Lawyers 2008, in the field of plaintiff's personal injury litigation: general. He was also designated for inclusion as among the Top 10 Connecticut Lawyers as published in Connecticut Magazine in 2007 and 2008.
Prior to receiving his J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law, Jim Bartolini was educated at Trinity College (B.A., 1968) and the Hartford Seminary (M.A. 1970; M.Div. 1972).
